2023 Sport for Life Summit: Thriving through Changing Times

For this year’s Sport for Life Summit, nine communities will be holding events on the theme of Thriving through Changing Times. From February 8-9, when the first one will be held in Ottawa, in partnership with the RA Centre, up to the end of April, these events will be organized in either English or French everywhere in Canada. Estimating effects of physical activity & sedentary behaviours on type 2 diabetes development in at-risk children

In the 2022 ParticipACTION Children and Youth Report Card, children and youth earned an F grade for sedentary behaviours. This study estimated the effects of sedentary behaviours and physical activity on type 2 diabetes risk in at-risk children. The findings strengthened the evidence of sedentary behaviours as a key driver of type 2 diabetes development in at-risk children and teens.

Sedentary Behaviour – A Target for the Prevention and Management of Cardiovascular Disease

This article discusses the association of total sedentary time and patterns of accumulating sedentary time with cardiovascular disease risk markers, incidence and mortality; evidence regarding the effects of reducing and breaking up sedentary time on cardiovascular disease risk markers; and the effectiveness of longer-term sedentary behaviour interventions on cardiovascular disease risk.

Canadian Women & Sport launch the 2022 Rally Report

For girls, women and gender-diverse people, sport can be transformative, but only when they have equitable opportunities to engage in quality, safe sport. The 2022 Rally Report, created in partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, details how 4,500 Canadian girls and women, and over 350 women sport leaders, experienced sport in 2022.
